The Exhibition
"Chihuly at Cheekwood" is an exhibition of Dale Chihuly's glass art at Nashville's
Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art.
The exhibition runs May 25-October 31, 2010.
The exhibition includes 19 installations, drawn from several of Chihuly's previous collections as well as brand-new pieces.
The majority of these are installed outdoors in the mansion's gardens and emulate natural forms.
The outdoor pieces can be viewed in this site's Gallery.
The indoor pieces include selections from earlier series of Chihuly's work.
(Photos are not allowed inside the museum.) These include:
- Macchia (ruffled bowl forms)
- Chandeliers (large suspended clusters of globes and spirals)
- Persians (ruffled plate forms)
- Navaho Baskets (large vase forms and paintings)
"Chihuly at Cheekwood" is part of the "Chihuly in Nashville" series of events occurring in 2010.
The other main exhibition is "Chihuly at the Frist" (at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts
through January 2, 2011),
featuring a career overview of Chihuly's work.
